H Short & Son LimitedIn 2003 we were recommended to Shorts and Silvery Tweed Cereals as a company who could quickly build a highly tailored database for their specialist cereal manufacturing business. They had struggled in house to build one in Access and had given up. Within 90 days we had built and commissioned a 20 user application that manages batched stock control on a customer order item level, raw materials from suppliers and accurately tracks quality assurance. Our strength was providing a system whereby any ingredient of any customer order could be batched tracked to a supplier’s raw material delivery. An additional challenge was the fact that the customer’s manufacturing plant is split across three sites up to a mile apart. The application runs under Windows server and Citrix.

J Morrow & SonsIn 2006 one of the owners of J Morrow & Sons took his camera into A.J.Johnstone & Co in Glasgow, another of our clients. Highly impressed by the way Johnstone’s booked the camera into their system; Alisdair Morrow contacted us and asked us if we could adapt the 360Base repair software for his clock restoration business. A small 4 people business, Morrows like many of us, found paperwork a tedious chore that gobbles up time. Valuable time that could be used repairing and servicing clocks. The system runs on a two user network and has freed up time which is now spent on invoiceable work. With the same staffing levels they are now able to invoice more repairs and services.

LGV ServicesThe first client we developed Lynchpin for. A small 4 fitter operation in Newcastle LGV had become frustrated by the growing mountain of paperwork. Wall planners, books and Sage Line 50 all managed small isolated pockets of the business process. At times of holiday and absence demands on time made it a frustrating place to work. Lynchpin eliminated the inefficiencies, dramatically increased the speed of invoice production and provides a rich stream of information on clients, their vehicles, the work done and the parts used. They estimate that the system saves them over 20 hours per week. With greater control over fitters and the work done the system has paid for itself many times over.

Louie ClothingRunning an old Dataease MSDOS database on a Novell network, Bryan Richardson decided the time had come to upgrade. He himself had written the current Dataease application and any replacement need to have data and functionality compatibility as a minimum. A second criterion was that he didn’t want the expense of replacing his network. Impressed by the work we had done in the areas of bespoke sales orders and stock control for other clients, he commissioned us to replace the Datease application. One area of increased stands out is weekly batched invoicing. Under the old Dataease application it used to take one day a week. One day when admin productivity was substantially reduced. 360Base reduced this task to less than one hour.

Metcalfe Components (Sunderland) LtdA long established successful precision engineering business in Sunderland, Metcalfe’s had been using a forerunner of 360Base since 1997. Working for large global clients such as Caterpillar Metcalfe’s need complete control over job paperwork. The challenge was not only to replicate much of the functionality of the existing Access database but to replace it with a feature rich tool that works seamlessly with Microsoft Office and Sage Line 50. A key feature of the system is the daily import of sales orders via an Excel spreadsheet from one of their major customers. What used to take over an hour of someone’s valuable time has been reduced to a few seconds of electronic transfer. The ability to print product drawings with Job Route Cards has also seen substantial increases in efficiency, productivity and professionalism.

Seaton Valley Co-operative SocietyIn 2006 Seaton decide to replace their in-house developed Unix Informix database which looked after their share ledger and 20 week rotational credit scheme. Here the challenge was fourfold. In the first instance we had duplicate all of the functionality of the existing system, and then modernize it to run under Windows. Secondly we had to import of all the current and historical data held by Informix. Thirdly we had to simplify it by running it from the recently updated Datafile accounting software. Finally we had to replicate the existing key performance reports and provide output for further manipulation by Excel. We achieved all of these goals and Seaton management are absolutely delighted with the high value product we delivered and the quality after sales support we continue to provide.

Torclad LimitedCladding contracting and manufacturing is a highly bespoke business. Fed up with forever compromising with an off the shelf CRM system Torclad in Leicester asked us to design and build a tailored sales database. The remit was simple. Build an easy to use and maintain database that tracks and creates sales opportunities across architects, clients, main contractors and subcontractors. In addition we integrated it with the familiar desktop tools of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel which meant a small learning curve for the sales staff. In 2010 we automated and integrated esitimating for their glass-fibre reinforced plastics division.
